Network Engineer

Bitdefender is now looking for a Network Engineer to join our team in Bucharest.

  • Administration and monitoring of worldwide Network Infrastructure
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices
  • Providing Network Solutions to increase operational efficiency and expand Network Services, conducts equipment evaluations, equipment selection, pilot testing and network designs to insure reliability and scaled expansion
  • Perform troubleshooting on all network technologies
  • Develop automation tools for monitoring and troubleshooting the network environment
  • Create and maintain Network Documentation
  • Provide system administration services for Linux / UNIX network related infrastructure
  • Assume other duties / projects as they arise and be responsive to the needs of the department
  • Actively contribute to all ongoing and new internal projects
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest position related technologies
  • Ensuring that operational procedures are up to date and effectively applied
  • Meet the SLAs.

Technical Requirements:


  • 2+ years of networking experience with a focus in routing, switching, and security in a 24/7 high availability data center and back office environments
  • Experience in configuration and administration of routing and security protocols - BGP, OSPF, Site to Site VPN - IPSec, SSL
  • Experience with IPTables;
  • Experience with configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of Cisco, Juniper, HP or equivalent routers and switches
  • Manages network performance and maintains network security; ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced
  • Understanding of various load balancing algorithms and strategies (round-robin, least connections, etc.)
  • Experience with many varieties of network hardware
  • Experience in scripting languages like Bash, Python, Perl, SED, AWK
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef and Ansible is a plus
  • Experience with open source monitoring tools Zabbix, Nagios, Cacti
  • Experience in Linux / Unix systems (Debian, CentOS, FreeBSD, Solaris, etc.)  administration, provisioning, configuration, monitoring
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot Linux / Unix operating system functionality to resolution of incidents
  • Virtualization technologies like VMware, KVM in a datacenter environment is a plus
  • iSCSI Storage experience in a datacenter environment is a plus
  • Communicate and document infrastructure changes and enhancements
  • Systems and Software architecture experience is a plus




Other Requirements:


  • CCNA / CCNP or equivalent certification preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Due to the high-availability nature of the environment the role will require after-hours and occasional weekend work to implement patches and/or perform system maintenance
  • Cooperating efficiently with other department leaders for improved IT and overall team performance
  • Good communication skills, able to share information and clarify business specifications into technical terminology
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Result-oriented and good diagnostic skills
  • Efficient time management and team player
  • Relevant university degree in IT or an apprenticeship as an IT specialist
