Some files may not be detected by BitDefender even if they are malicious. This is called a false negative and usually occurs when the malware uses new (unexplored) techniques. There is a possibility that BitDefender will report a legitimate file as being infected. If you open BitDefender in the Advanced View at the Update module the entire page will appear as greyed out and a message saying that the BitDefender Update Service is Unavailable. When scanning with BitDefender, you may come across some items that are marked as "password-protected", which BitDefender reports as potential threats
